RARITY

Natural pink diamonds are among the rarest and most coveted fancy-color diamonds, ranging from delicate pastel pinks to vivid, intense hues. Truly exceptional stones—large, richly saturated, and highly clean—are extraordinarily scarce.

The closure of the Argyle mine in Western Australia, once a significant source of the world’s pink diamonds, has made these remarkable gems even rarer and more sought after.

Exceptional pink diamonds can command millions of dollars per carat. In 2022, the 11.15-carat Internally Flawless Fancy Vivid Pink Williamson Pink Star sold for $57.7 million, setting a record of more than $5.1 million per carat. for more details visit the GIA website - The GIA Pink Article - link

PINK DIAMONDS

Among fancy-color diamonds, natural pink diamonds are among the rarest and most sought-after. Their delicate pink hues are created by unique distortions in the diamond’s crystal lattice during formation, making each stone exceptionally rare and distinctive.

Pink diamonds, some of the rarest and most sought-after gems, primarily originate from a few key mines. The Argyle Mine in Australia, which ceased operations in 2020, produced over 90% of the world's pink diamonds, renowned for their vivid hues.

The Cullinan Mine in South Africa, known for its high-quality diamonds, also yields notable pink diamonds, while the historic Golconda Mine in India has a legacy of producing some of the world's most famous pink gems. The unique color of pink diamonds, attributed to atomic distortions in their crystal structure, combined with their limited availability, has driven their demand and value, making them highly prized by collectors and investors.
